In most cases when an upgraded\u00a0item is crafted or dropped from a monster, it will appear unidentified.\u00a0When you identify an upgraded item, you will see certain words added to the item&#8217;s name, both\u00a0prefixes (Such as &#8220;Superior&#8221;), and suffixes\u00a0(&#8220;of Smoke&#8221;). Each prefix represents the number of added stats on an item whereas the\u00a0suffix represents one magical property on the item.\u00a0For example Superior items have only one or two added stats while Legendary and Artifact items may have many extra stats and are much rarer in occurrence.<\/p>\n<h2><b>Identification Scrolls<\/b><\/h2>\n<p>Identification scrolls can be used to determine an unidentified items properties. There are\u00a0three different scrolls with increasing ability for identification. More expensive scrolls are able to identify more statistic points on items.<\/p>\n<p>Peddler is located at 305:282 in Tristram and has three types of scrolls for sale:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Identification Scroll = 990 gold coins<\/li>\n<li>Scroll Of Attributes = 9 900 gold coins<\/li>\n<li>Scroll Of Knowledge = 99 000 gold coins<\/li>\n<li>Scroll Of Wisdom = 900 000 gold coins<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>The Upgrading Process<\/h2>\n<p>During game-play you will find and collect items from killing monsters and looting dungeons. Many of these items will be of no immediate use to you so you may either; sell them, salvage them or simply leave them on the floor.<\/p>\n<p>If you choose to salvage\u00a0these items you will extract one of two properties, an Essence or a Design, which you may then use to upgrade a similar item.<\/p>\n<h3>Salvaging<\/h3>\n<p>To salvage an item you must locate the NPC that knows this craft for one of the three item types. When salvaging you will extract either an Essence <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/sites.google.com\/site\/mir2arcadia\/_\/rsrc\/1383824570487\/upgradeguide\/Upgrade_Essence.png\" alt=\"essence\" border=\"0\" \/>\u00a0or a Design <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/sites.google.com\/site\/mir2arcadia\/_\/rsrc\/1383824740226\/upgradeguide\/Upgrade_Design.png\" alt=\"design\" border=\"0\" \/>\u00a0from the item.\u00a0There is a cost in Gold Coins to pay to salvage an item. This cost is based primarily upon the level of the item.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/sites.google.com\/site\/mir2arcadia\/upgradeguide\/Upgrade_Salvage.png?attredirects=0\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/sites.google.com\/site\/mir2arcadia\/_\/rsrc\/1383835632239\/upgradeguide\/Upgrade_Salvage.png\" alt=\"Salvage\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>There is one type of Essence but three types of design\u00a0based on what the item is:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Weapons &#8211; Blacksmith located at 260:273 in Tristram &#8211; Weapon Design<\/li>\n<li>Armour, boots, belts &#8211; Tailor located at 170:248 in Arcane Province &#8211; Weapon Design<\/li>\n<li>Jewellery &#8211; Jeweller located at 160:173 in Mud Wall Jewellers &#8211; Weapon Design<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>The Essence<\/h3>\n<p>The Essence of an item represents its magical qualities. A rarer item with more added stats will have a more powerful\u00a0Essence. This is represented with three different item qualities:<\/p>\n<p><b>Volume<\/b><i> = Represents how full the vial is. A vial full of\u00a0Essence\u00a0will have a greater chance of succeeding in upgrade. This also changes the prefix of the item name.<\/i><br \/>\n<b>Purity<\/b><i> = Represents the lack of impurities\u00a0of the Essence inside the vial.\u00a0A higher purity will improve success.\u00a0This value is similar to item level.<\/i><br \/>\n<b>Slag<\/b><i> = The leftovers of salvaging\u00a0can sometimes be left in the vial, this slag will cause problems when upgrading items.<\/i><\/p>\n<h3>The\u00a0Design<\/h3>\n<p>The Design of an item represents how it was specially designed to be spectacular or not.\u00a0A design\u00a0is represented with three different item qualities:<\/p>\n<p><b>Quality<\/b><i> = <\/i><i>Represents the quality of the original item. A poor quality design is not going to be much use!\u00a0This also changes the prefix of the item name.<\/i><br \/>\n<b>Detail<\/b><i> = <\/i><i>Represents how detailed the design is. The more detail you have the better chance of copying over those rare qualities. This value is similar to item level.<\/i><br \/>\n<b>Fade<\/b><i> =\u00a0<\/i><i>Sometimes the drawings\u00a0of a Design can be quite faded. This will affect item quality and result in poorer results.<\/i><\/p>\n<h2>Upgrading an Item<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/sites.google.com\/site\/mir2arcadia\/upgradeguide\/Upgrade_Screen_Full.png?attredirects=0\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/sites.google.com\/site\/mir2arcadia\/_\/rsrc\/1383839475082\/upgradeguide\/Upgrade_Screen_Full.png\" alt=\"upgrade full\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a>To upgrade an item you need <strong>one Essenc,\u00a0<\/strong><strong>one Design<\/strong>\u00a0of the specific item type, and the <strong>item you wish to upgrade<\/strong>. Open you inventory (F9) and select the blue hammer icon <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/sites.google.com\/site\/mir2arcadia\/_\/rsrc\/1383836321437\/upgradeguide\/Upgrade_Button.png\" alt=\"\" border=\"0\" \/>\u00a0in the bottom right of the inventory panel. This will open the upgrade window and can be done in any location at any time.<\/p>\n<p>All items that are upgraded first <strong>lose all their stats<\/strong>. This means that\u00a0if there is a failed upgrade, the item will become normal, if successful then the old stats will be replaced with the new.<\/p>\n<p>Place the Essence, Design and\u00a0item you wish to enhance\u00a0into the empty\u00a0spaces of the upgrade window. Select\u00a0upgrade and pray for success. If successful the box around the item will glow\u00a0and give you an unidentified item.
